Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart

Be acceptable in Your sight,

O Yahweh, my rock and my Redeemer.

Psalm 19:14

Society has made us aware of the slogan, "Think Before You Speak", and now the trendy slogan is...

These are obviously good societal traits to observe but for those that seek to follow the words of Jesus and live in Him, we need to think about this further. There is a reason to consider and season our words. Our words come from our heart condition.

Here's what Jesus has to say about our words:

THE HEART IS REVEALED BY WORDS

33 “Either make the tree good and its fruit good, or make the tree bad and its fruit bad; for the tree is known by its fruit.
34 You brood of vipers, how can you, being evil, speak what is good? For the mouth speaks out of that which fills the heart.35 The good man brings out of his good treasure what is good; and the evil man brings out of his evil treasure what is evil.36 But I tell you that every careless word that people speak, they shall give an accounting for it in the day of judgment.37 For by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned.”
Consider praying something like this:
"Lord, give me a desire to change my thinking and words to conform to Your teachings.
Instill in me a passionate desire to be obedient to You in order to bring you glory. Make my life about that very thing, Your glory. Show me and quicken my spirit regarding every word I utter...even the unspoken words, Lord. For what good does it do if I clamp my mouth shut as I'm seething. Surely an eyeroll reveals my heart, as well. Silence can be loud.
Wash my heart and make it pure as I allow Your word to wash over me.
In Jesus name and for His glory, Amen."
Be thankful and honor Him as He answers.
Much love, my sisters.
